Land of the Morning Calm

At Incheon International Airport

Well we made it safely to Korea.....14 hour flights are quite adventurous I must say. When I flew to Africa it wasn't quite as long because it wasn't direct...it was more like 8 hours. So ya, verrrryyy long flight. There was a poor little old Korean man that sat next to Jon and I, and we felt pretty bad because we kept getting up ever 2-3 hours to use the bathroom or just stretch....but all he wanted to do was sleep so I believe he was a little perturbed at us. I'm not totally positive though because he didn't quite speak any English haha.

We arrived at the Incheon Airport finally and got all our bags. Jim was waiting for us outside of customs and immigration and it was so nice to see a familiar face;) After that it was a two hour bus ride to Songtan where my parents in law live. Osan Air Force base is located just a few minutes from their Apartment Complex.

I think it is just amazing how America is such a melting pot. There are Asian, Caucasian, African American, Indian, Latino..etc. etc. and you don't really think anything about it. You are just used to seeing many different ethnic groups. Here however, it's like millions of just one ethnicity. There isn't much variation at all (unless you see Jim or me). haha.

The first night we were here, Jim took Jon and I to a local restaurant and we had a traditional Korean dish....It was amazing, but the gochujang (red pepper paste) was a bit overbearing...so needless to say our mouths were on fire after about 5 bites lol.

Yesterday Afternoon dinner at a local Restaurant....ie. a huge feast!
Surprisingly, they have excellent Korean food in Korea! Who would've thunk?:)
The food was out of this world, and all of it healthy. So cool.
The white soup is a soy bean soup. Very good source or protein.
One neat thing, was that they grow all their vegetables in their back yard. Talk about organic!

These kind of apartments are ALL over the place.

Rice fields

They rent little garden places out to families that live in
town so they can still grow their vegetables.
A white bird in the rice field. I thought it was pretty:)
Ok, so this board Chansoon told us is an advertisement for
back adjustments/chiropractor. We have no idea why those faces with the teeth are supposed to be there lol. Maybe that's supposed to be what you look like
when you get done??? who knows haha.

These are the apartments Jim and Chansoon live in...Koaroo is the name.
Ko is for Korea and Aroo is a Chinese derivative word for something
I can't remember.
This morning we had coffee and pastries at a little bakery in the city.
